TODAY on homeless folks with dogs

Today and every other day during this trip we saw homeless people with dogs. Most of them seem to genuinely care for their dogs,  sharing what little food they have with them, ensuring that they have enough water to drink, keeping them warm under layers of blanket and giving them massages to keep their blood flowing. Most dogs seem well fed too. Sometimes there are  2 dogs per homeless person.

Every time I see a homeless person, I thought about a comment I read on a website not too long ago. About how she did not give her leftover food or money but bought some food to give to them. Many times I thought of doing exactly as what she did but did not have the courage to do so. There are so many of them - how do you decide who to feed and who not to feed. In actual fact, there's no need to complicate the thinking - feeding one is better than none.

It was over the festive Christmas period. We can see people spending money on joy rides, spoiling misbehaved kids, having more food than they can smell, with lots of good stuff going to the bin.

Yet, there are people out on the streets struggling to earn a living, and some without any home but plenty of love to spare.

But then there are some who are just plain lazy and useless. I despise beggars who smoke. Already I get annoyed at anyone who smokes but to spend the little money you have on drugs or drug-like-product that is one of the lowest form of human being. I feel sorry for the dog with the smoking person because that is one less Spanish 'pan' or sausage roll for the furry one.
It made me wonder yet again what am I doing with my everyday life. Going to work for something which adds no value to anyone's life. Work for me is just to get some money and live comfortably for myself. So the question is always 'will this year be the year I make a difference to those around me'. And I mean valuable difference, not deliveries like implementing / improving a HR or Payroll system so I can help save some cash for the company, and at the same time making others lose their jobs.
